Valentine’s Day gets a little love

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I gladly give into all the gimmicks, from the Hallmark cards to boxed chocolates (which never really taste that good). Some folks are disdainful towards advertisers telling them that today they must tell their friends, family or significant other how much they love and care for them. For this very reason, they choose to not celebrate today. Perhaps it’s my childlike nature, but I love the ridiculous things that I find on shelves when I’m shopping. What’s not to like about a giant stuffed frog that sings “Love Me Tender”? There’s nothing wrong with an oversized card illustrating a cheesy-looking bee that says, “Bee Mine” or a pepperoni pizza shaped into a heart fromPapa John’s (yes, this is a shout-out). They make me laugh and smile! At the end of the day, couldn’t we all use a little bit of that? So thank you advertising, for helping keep Valentine’s Day alive and adding some love to my day.

Love Advertising Internship

Every semester Love Advertising looks for energetic and outgoing interns who can dive right into the advertising world with enthusiasm. Our internship program is a great way for students or recent graduates to gain experience in a full service agency. Interns are typically exposed to a variety of industries and work with every department, including account service, public relations, media and creative. Candidates studying in any of these areas are encouraged to apply for a full-time or part-time internship. The internship is not paid. However, there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience. Love interns gain valuable contacts and insight into life at an advertising agency, as well as walk away with great portfolio pieces. Plus many of the current Love family started out through the internship program.

Agency Copy Editor

Love Advertising is searching for a freelance copy editor with the possibility of the position becoming full time in the future. The copy editor will be responsible for all types of edit and rewrite tasks (press releases, ad copy, technical presentations, proposals etc.) and will be expected to suggest changes as well as correct grammar, punctuation and syntax. This person will need to be experienced in editing other writers’ copy, fact checking and writing their own headlines, pull-quotes and captions. Candidates must have excellent organizational skills, a solid and deep understanding of English spelling and grammar, and strong attention to detail.

Familiarity with both AP and Chicago Style required.

Agency and/ or newsroom experience is a plus.
